Tambor: part 1
Meet Tambor, the service dog in training.
Tambor has just started his training to be a service dog. He is being trained by a volunteer for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) who lives here in my town. She and I started talking about doing a fundraiser shoot for CCI for the holidays and I suggested that we start a photo session where we can document Tambor as he grows into the super dog he’ll become. So far, I’ve photographed him for 2 months and he has grown so much in that time. He’s also learned so much too. Like kids, puppies are sponges for new information and are happy to learn. Yellow Labs, like all Labradors, are very food motivated so it’s not hard to get them to listen with a pocket full of treats.
I’m a big fan of CCI because they do all the work to train and get dogs to people who really need them and they do it all at no cost to the person in need. I can’t imagine what must go through that process to get the right person to the right dog. I’m hoping that Tambor passes his training and goes on and to be able to photograph him with the person he’s paired with. His trainer is amazing so I’m sure he will do great.
The holiday fundraiser will be at Especially for Pets in Sudbury, MA on Dec 3 so if you’re in the area you should sign up. There are volunteers who are creating a backdrop which should be really fun. All pets and people are welcome so contact the store to find out more details.
