Back at Waverley Oaks
When we first adopted Toby over 8 years ago, we were still living in Watertown and found that the best park in the area was Waverley Oaks park, also known as Beaver Brook Reservation. It’s just at the edge of Belmont and Waltham and it is one of the friendliest dog parks in the area. This weekend I decided that Toby needed to get back to his roots so he could be happy about going back to parks again. I also brought my boys and my camera (of course) so I could be a little nostalgic. Just as expected, it was busy with all kinds of dogs and Toby was really happy about it. Well, as happy as Toby could be. Every park I’ve brought him to lately has not made him very happy. It seems like every park we’ve gone to the past few months have a gun club just around the corner and Toby HATES gun clubs. Most of the time, I don’t even hear it but if Toby gets wind of that sound, he shakes like a leaf and bolts back the way we came.
I’m hoping that by taking him some place new, it would help get him out of his fear but it’s going to take quite a few more trips and the weather has to be in our favor as well. Toby doesn’t like the cold and I’m hoping we can avoid any more Polar Vortex events this winter. That was just so wrong.
