It’s school vacation week here in MA and we had grandpa visiting from Cleveland. We had a great time and I made sure to spend quality time with my family. That is why I’ve been so quiet this week. I make a family book at the end of the year using photos I take of my family over the year. It’s these moments I try hard to get nice photos of the kids with family they only see a few times a year.
I have to admit though, photographing my family, as much as I love it, is the most difficult photos I take. My boys don’t want to listen to me as much as they might for other adults. They like seeing themselves being silly and awkward. They also know that they can push my buttons by not listening. When I photograph other kids, I’m someone new and someone to play with but not my boys. For my boys, it’s a challenge to see how much they can get away with.
The upside to this is I get some really funny photos. especially, my youngest. Isaac always makes the funniest faces and does really crazy things for the camera. I do get frustrated when it’s happening but often really like the outcome of when I see the photos.
