Things have been really busy with the Black Dogs Project because we are getting so close to the book release date. Well, it’s actually not out till September but I’ve been working on this for so long that I’m so excited that it’s finally coming close.
Some really great things have been happening. I’ve gotten some great press from places like Boston.com and even the Associated Press sent a reporter and photographer out to do an article and that has spured on a whole ton of new press from around the world. I have radio interviews from South Dakota to Germany. It’s great that I’ve really hit a nerve with my project. I hope the momentum continues through the release.
The book can be found on all the major online stores like Amazon and B&N. I’m learning all kinds information about the publishing world and how things work. Much of the online algorithms just follow each other around and try to have the lowest price. I’m also torn because I really want the book to do well but I want people to buy from local bookstores as much as I want to be the top selling book on Amazon.
The good thing is that I’ve got some really great support for the book. I’m going to have a book release event at Gallery Kayafas in Boston on September 20. I really want to help out as many groups as possible so I’m inviting different rescues and pet stores around the area to come set up a table to promote their services. So far groups like B.O.N.E.S, Animal Rescue League of Boston, Pawsh Dog Boutique, Polka Dog, and Big Fluffy Dogs Rescue are all interested in being there. We are still working out the details but I’ve already gotten KONG to donate a basket of cool stuff we’ll be auctioning off. I really do love all these businesses and rescues that do so much for pets and people.
If you’re coming to the event, please sign up on the FB page so I have a count. I’ll be selling books and signing copies for people.
